Easy Scorpion Solitaire

Game Type: Spider
|
Win Statistics:60%

Easy Scorpion Solitaire Objective

The goal of Easy Scorpion Solitaire is to complete four foundation piles, separated by suit, by building descending (king to ace), same-suit sequences in the tableau. After you complete a sequence in the tableau, it’s automatically moved to a foundation pile, completing the pile.

Easy Scorpion Solitaire is less difficult than traditional Scorpion because it has three hidden cards in the first three columns instead of four.

Easy Scorpion Solitaire Setup

Using a single 52-card deck, Easy Scorpion Solitaire is set up with three main areas:

  • Tableau: The tableau consists of 49 cards across seven columns. The first three columns have three facedown cards each, and you use the tableau to arrange cards in descending order by suit.
  • Stockpile: Three facedown cards are placed above the tableau, forming the stockpile, which you can only use once. When used, one card is dealt face up to each of the first three tableau columns.
  • Foundation piles: Four foundation piles sit above the tableau. After you complete a suited king-to-ace sequence in the tableau, it automatically is placed in a foundation pile.

Easy Scorpion Solitaire Rules

  • Sequence same-suit cards in descending order in the tableau. You can move a card on top of another as long as the card you’re moving is one rank lower and the same suit of the card you’re placing it on. For example, you can move a 4♣ on a 5♣. You can only place cards onto the bottom card of each column.
  • Move any face-up card in a column, but all the cards below it move together as a unit. For example, if one column has a 5♦, J♣, and 7♥ and another column ends with the 6♦, you can move the 5♦, J♣, and 7♥ on top of the 6♦.
  • Any card, regardless of rank, can fill an empty column.
  • Use the stockpile once when you get stuck. The stockpile will deal three cards to the bottom of the first three columns when clicked, but one use exhausts the cards in the stockpile.

Easy Scorpion Solitaire Strategies

  • Uncover facedown cards. Revealing facedown cards early increases your options for movement and improves your chances of winning.
  • Treat the stockpile as a last-resort option. You only get three cards from the stockpile and can only use it one time. So delay using the stock until you have no other moves available. Those three cards could bury useful cards and cause you to get stuck.
  • Empty columns early for more movement options. An empty column gives you a free space. You can use those empty spaces to unblock cards or build long sequences.
  • Avoid locking columns with cards you can’t build on. Aces can’t have a card placed on them, so having an ace at the bottom of a column means you can’t build on that column. The same is true for the cards with their mates in the stockpile or facedown in the first three columns. Exposing these cards at the bottom of columns effectively locks the columns.
  • Keep a lower card below a higher card of the same suit. The lower ranking card must be built onto higher ranks. So if the lower rank is further up a column, you have to shift more cards to sequence it. For example, don’t rearrange a column if it puts the 8♣ above the 9♣ in the same column. Otherwise, you have to go through the 9♣ and anything in between to get to the 8♣.
